Tony rode more than 1,200 winners in a stellar career with the highlight being his win in the 1997 Grand National on Lord Gylenne – the only time the great race was held on a Monday.

He was stable jockey to firstly Gordon Richards and then his son Nicky for many years and among the horses he rode was the legendary Monet’s Garden on whom he won 13 times including on his debut here at Ayr a course he always refers to as his favourite.

After retiring from the saddle in 2008 ‘Dobbs’ embarked on a new role as assistant trainer to his wife Rose at their stables in Northumberland and his second career is also proving a great success.

Brian has more than 1,100 winners to date and is once again locked in a battle with Richard Johnson at the top of the Jockey Championship having twice been runner up in recent years.

Known throughout racing as a form guru who studies each race he rides in Brian has ridden on or against many of the leading horses who will be lining at up at the Cheltenham Festival and is better equipped than most to give his views on the major races.

He is sure to have a huge part to play in our first ever Cheltenham Preview Dinner.

A former jumps jockey he is well placed to pass on his expert opinion on the major races at the Cheltenham Festival .
