Our next featured couple is Mr & Mrs Campbell who celebrated their spectacular autumn wedding day with us here at Western House in Octoberber 2019. Special thanks to Premier Photography for the stunning photographs!

 

Tell us about how you met? 
We met in high school through mutual friends and have been together ever since! 

How did the proposal happen?
This happened in Cancun Mexico in August 2017 whilst we were on holiday with our friends. To this day it’s been the best holiday we have ever had as it holds a very special place in our hearts. We would love to return... possibly for an anniversary? 

 

Did you have a long engagement? If yes/no, ‘What were the benefits to that?’ 
We were engaged for just over 2 years before our wedding. The benefits of this were it allowed us to save for our dream wedding and not start married life with a debt. However it was a very long time to wait. We would say do what’s best for you! 

What made you choose Western House Hotel as your wedding venue?
Growing up Lisa has spent many a summer in the west coast of Scotland and it holds a special place in our hearts. We absolutely loved the venue from our first visit and we knew straight away that this was the one for us. All the staff made us feel welcome and like our day would be the most special one ever.

Looking back, what was your favourite part of your wedding day? 
Lisa would say the best part of our wedding was the ceremony itself. I loved coming in and seeing everyone’s faces and just feeling all the love in the room. It was the most incredible day of our lives so far! 

Scott would say the best part of the day was him welcoming all our guests and seeing Lisa walking down the aisle towards him. 

What is your top tip for newly engaged couples?
Book a videographer!!! We would say that this was the best decision we made when planning our wedding. The after wedding blues are real and having your video arrive a few weeks later really eases this and gives you the opportunity to get all the family around and relive the day. We would highly recommend Cue the Mustard. Their work is fantastic! 

Also try not get too caught up with social media and celebrity weddings, your wedding will be amazing just as it is.

One last thing, put trust into your vendors, they know their stuff and will make the day tick over perfectly.

 

What is your favourite thing about married life?
The thing we love most about married life is the fact we are able to call one another Husband and Wife. It makes us feel that we are a real team. Scott loves wearing his wedding ring as it symbolises we are a family!
