TAKE A PEAK AT THE WEDDING DAY OF - Mr & Mrs Murphy

Our next featured couple is Mr & Mrs Murphy who celebrated their special wedding day with us here at Western House in August 2024. 

 

How did you meet?
We shared the same group of friends when we were younger and met through this and have been together for 12 years.

  

Tell us about the proposal...

My best friend was a chalet girl in Morzine France and us and our 3 other best friends and 2 of their dads & sister, flew out to visit her and jack proposed on the slopes. Was amazing!

 

What made you choose Western House Hotel
as your wedding venue?
Laura is my Aunty (mums best friend) I was at her wedding (just a tiny baby) and she asked if I’d like to come and see it. I have horses and the first sight of horses and being by the racecourse and the mention of BYOH (bring your own horse) sold it to me. Sadly my horse was unwell on the run up and was under veterinary care and they couldn’t come on the day.

 

What was the planning process like?
I was very prepared early on. Laura at western house was absolutely amazing.

 

What would you say to couples thinking of
choosing Western House Hotel?
100% go for it! They were amazing they kept us informed and even if there are a few glitches they sort and everything was just perfect! It’s such a luxury touch with a personal atmosphere.
 

Looking back, what was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Seeing all our friends and family come together for our big day.

 

What is your favourite thing about married life?
We have a beautiful new house that we started married life in together.

 

What is your top tip for newly engaged couples?
I was so anxious and nervous I completely switched off from the minute I got down the stairs to go down the aisle. If I were to do it again, I’d know that there is nothing to be nervous about and it really is the most magical day.

 

Were there any unique or personal touches that
you incorporated into your wedding? 
My MIL arranged for our fur babies (Norman - miniature long haired dachshund and poppy miniature Australian labradoodle) to be brought down and it was nice to have them briefly included in our ceremony and photos.
