Real Life Weddings

Our next featured couple is Mr & Mrs Ross who celebrated their beautiful wedding day with us here at Western House. Special thanks to AMD Photography for the stunning photographs!

How did you meet?
We met each other many years ago via a family member. We always knew we liked each other however nothing ever materialised until just over 4 years ago. We chatted, went on a date and never looked back.

Tell us about the proposal...
We got engaged in Cameron House in December 2017. Bryan had booked this as a surprise as we were supposed to be staying somewhere in Edinburgh but said he couldn't get a room anywhere as he had left it too late. Little did I know he had booked Cameron House well in advance with the intention of proposing. We were supposed to go a walk round the loch but it was raining so he proposed in our hotel room which looked over Loch Lomond. It was an amazing surprise and an amazing day.

What would be your biggest piece of advice to newly engaged couples?
Try not to worry about the day too much and don't let the nerves get the best of you. Bryan found himself feeling quite nervous and now wishes he had relaxed a little more to help him enjoy the events on the run up to the big day. Also your wedding day is worth all the months of saving. You won't regret it!

What was the highlight of your wedding day?
The whole day was amazing and it is hard to pick one moment! However we did particularly enjoy the evening reception as we relaxed and enjoyed spending time with all our loved ones. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.

What made you choose Western House Hotel as your wedding venue?
We had viewed a number of wedding venues. We knew we wanted something beautiful, affordable and cosy yet had enough room for over 100 guests. We were initially feeling a bit deflated when arriving at Western House Hotel because we had already viewed so many venues and nothing had been what we were looking for. But as soon we saw Western House Hotel we very quickly realised this was the venue for us! We walked in and were greeted quickly and politely and were offered a drink. We had taken extra family members for advice and this was not a problem. Laura was very accommodating! She spent time showing us around and answering all of our questions. We loved the lounge area as there was plenty of space for all our guests and it accommodated reception guests of all ages. We also loved that there was the opportunity for beautiful pictures to be taken in the hotel and in the beautiful, manicured gardens. So we booked our wedding that weekend!

What was the best part of planning a wedding?
Bryan enjoyed letting me do most of the work! I personally enjoyed using my imagination and then getting to see how everything came together on the day. I also loved spending time doing some DIY wedding decorations with my mum and bridesmaids. They were a great help!
